 Brief Description of role

The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) Australia is seeking a well qualified and experienced development professional to join the senior management team. The successful applicant will demonstrate the ability to work with a variety of stakeholders including overseas partners, beneficiaries, AusAID, donors and staff. Skills include project management, monitoring and evaluation, strategic planning, building relationships with government and church partners and managing the IP team. The position requires significant travel.

 

Essential Criteria: 

  1. A personal commitment to the Seventh-day Adventist church and ADRA's mission, vision, values and beliefs
  2. A minimum of three years senior management experience
  3. A relevant background in development with at least seven years’ experience
  4. A relevant academic qualification (preferred)
  5. A passion for social justice and community service delivery with a coherent understanding of the causes of and mechanisms for creating injustice and poverty
  6. Demonstrable communication skills
  7. Proficient computer skills
  8. An ability to keep current with industry trends and opportunities
  9. Strong organizational skills
  10. Capacity for visioning and driving the implementation of strategy
  11. A technical understanding and competence in project cycle management (PCM) including analysis, design, assessment, resourcing, implementing, monitoring and evaluation
  12. An ability to network with other overseas partners, beneficiaries, other agencies, peak bodies and governments
  13.  An ability to work harmoniously with ADRA’s parent body (Australian Union Conference), and ADRA International
  14. The ability to travel and work overseas

 

Desirable Criteria:

  1. Demonstrated capacity for teambuilding and networking
  2. An ability to advocate and have input into government decision making 
  3. An MA level of academic qualification 
  4. Public presentation skills 
  5. Articulate and comfortable with speaking in public 
  6. Grant writing ability 
  7. Financial management skills such as strategic budgeting and monitoring 
  8. Strategic budgeting and monitoring against expenditure 
  9. Law and legal compliance knowledge 
  10. Coordination and chairing of meetings
  11. Willing to further career development by undertaking further study
