Human Resources Manager - People Services

South Pacific Division | Wahroonga, NSW

The South Pacific Division’s People Services team is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager who can support and develop effective relationships across the organisation and provide a professional HR service to the wider Church in the South Pacific.

This full-time role will be based at the Division head office in Wahroonga NSW, and will report to the General Manager of People Services. Key functions of this position will be to:
• Provide HR leadership and support to the Division;
• Develop and promote a workplace culture that is in harmony with the Church’s mission and values; and
• Provide professional HR policies, practices and resources that comply with government employment legislation/regulation.

Essential:
• Strong commitment to the teachings, values and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
• Have or be eligible to hold the appropriate Seventh-day Adventist Church licence/credential.
• Tertiary qualifications in a human resource management related discipline.
• Extensive knowledge of and experience in human resource management.
• A comprehensive working knowledge of the church and its management throughout the South Pacific Division.
• Strong interpersonal, influencing, coaching, communication, negotiation and consultative skills at all levels.
• A proven ability to handle pressure and manage conflicting demands.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Current passport and Australian driver’s licence and willing and able to travel.

Preferred:
• A sound understanding of employment practice and law.
• A broad understanding of the workings and culture of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the South Pacific.
• A demonstrated track record in developing and implementing strategic business and HR objectives within a complex, multi-business organisation.
• Keen attention to detail, with good analytical skills and a problem-solving mindset.

Policy & Compliance Officer – People Services

The Seventh-day Adventist Church (SPD) Limited is seeking a highly skilled and experienced person to develop policy, procedures and programs and provide advice and monitor legal compliance within the workplace. This includes planning, directing and implementing compliance in the areas of Health and Safety, Return to Work, Privacy and other employment legislative areas. Based at the South Pacific Division head office in Wahroonga NSW, this full-time role will report directly to the General Manager of People Services.

Essential:
• Strong commitment to the teachings, values, beliefs and mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
• Recognized qualifications and/or experience in Human Resource Management, Employment Law, Work Health and Safety, or other recognized fields.
• Knowledge and understanding of work health and safety principles and requirements.
• Membership with relevant professional organisations.
• Understanding of the Privacy Act, dispute resolution and complaint handling methods and processes.
• Well-developed people skills and able to build effective and productive relationships across all levels of the church organisation.
• Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent time management and problem solving skills.
• Well-developed computer skills and proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of software.

Desirable:

Manager – Division Property Trust

South Pacific Division | Wahroonga, NSW

The Seventh-day Adventist Church (SPD) Limited has an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual in the area of property or commerce, with strong commercial acumen, to strategically manage the property holdings of the South Pacific Division (SPD) with the goal of delivering on the future needs of the Church and continually maximise the portfolio’s value and benefits to advance the wider mission of the Church. Based at the Division head office in Wahroonga NSW, this full-time role will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and will oversee the property portfolios of the Division and manage key development and expansion projects.

Essential:
• Practising, baptised member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church with a strong commitment to its mission.
• Be eligible to hold the appropriate Seventh-day Adventist church licence.
• Qualifications in commerce/property.
• Previous experience in the management of property.
• Strong commercial acumen.
• Proven ability to analyse, problem-solve, prioritise and execute tasks effectively in a high-pressured environment.
• Previous project management or related experience.
• High level of organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
• Self-motivated with good time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to deal tactfully and effectively with staff and outside personnel on a daily basis.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and exhibit courtesy, diplomacy and kindness.

Preferred:
• An understanding of Seventh-day Adventist Church denominational structure and processes.

Investment & Financial Services Manager
Division Financial Services
South Pacific Division | Wahroonga, NSW

The Seventh-day Adventist Church (SPD) Limited is seeking expressions of interest from suitable candidates for this senior management role to operate the Division Financial Services (DFS). DFS manages, within Australia and New Zealand, the Division investment program, the lending of funds to denominational organisations and other financial/banking services. The manager of DFS is responsible for investment decisions, banking relationships, monitoring and managing total denominations loan exposures and providing financial services to over 1,000 clients. Candidates should have experience at a senior level in either finance or financial management. Qualifications in either business or investment management are essential. Based at the Division head office in Wahroonga NSW, this full-time role will report direct to the Division Chief Financial Officer, and will commence in August/September 2020.

Essential:
• Practising, baptised member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church with a strong commitment to its mission.
• Be eligible to hold the appropriate Seventh-day Adventist church licence.
• Undergraduate degree in business/accounting/investment management or equivalent.
• Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of financial management and investment.
• At least 10 years’ senior financial experience in the finance sector or within denominational work.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, analytical and people skills.
• Understanding of legislative requirements of investments, loans, etc.
• Previous management experience.

Preferred:
• Sound working knowledge of the church and its management throughout the SPD.
• Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of accounting standards and denominational accounting practice.
• Post graduate studies in applied finance.
